This afternoon, I'm going to attend my first book club meeting. Considering all the reading I do, it's funny that this is the first book club I've ever been in. I'm excited to celebrate books!
Have you ever been in a book club? If so what did you like about it?
xoxo,
Suzanne
I've never been in a book club. I'm terrified that everyone else would enjoy the books at such a deeper level than I am capable of understanding. I'd have to fall back on my stupid sense of humour and forever be deemed the club idiot.
ReplyDelete@Simply V. I feel exactly the same way! Whenever I try to describe a book to my friends, I end up saying something generic and silly, like, "It was, um, really good."
ReplyDeleteNot myself, but my wife is. It started as a mother daughter book club (daughter is now 23), but duaghters lost interest at end of middle school. Mom's restarted a year or two later less daughters, plus drinking. I've bartended a few meetings.
ReplyDeleteI've never been in a book club (not much of a joiner) but I sure read a lot and sometimes post about books and enjoy the online discussion. I'll be curious how you like it.
ReplyDeleteI tried one decades ago but I read so fast compared to everyone else, it just wasn't as much fun as I thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteNope never been part of one. I'm such a slow reader... which is why I only check out one or two books at time from the library. The library...as close to a book club as I'll ever get, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI've never been in a book club either...I hope you're going to tell us how it went. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
We never read the books and we just drank wine.
ReplyDeleteI hated the pressure of having to read. I'll read when I want to, I shouldn't have to feel pressured to do my "homework assignment." I found it took the fun out of reading. :-( The wine made me feel better though LOL.
The Bumble Book Club has been meeting since 2005--and I LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to be in one. I like it because of the variety of books we read. Everyone took turns picking a book and we all had different tastes. I read books that I probably never would have otherwise.
