Here's the situation:
You're invited to a party. Everyone's bringing something. You bring _____________.
I bring mac and cheese. It's yummy, although it's not my most impressive culinary creation. But the people always ask for it. In fact, this weekend, I'm making it twice, one batch for tonight and another on Sunday. I suppose it's my duty to give the people what they want.
So, once again, you're invited to a party. Everyone's bringing something. What do you bring?
xoxo,
Suzanne
Do I have time to actually make something or am I the frantic crazed version of me who is doing everything at the last minute? Crazed me brings brownie bites. I think that the chocolate monkey on my back heavily influences that decision. The me who planned better and isn't being tested by the universe makes hummus from scratch. Another favorite is when my family comes to my house for holidays I love to make apple pie or apple strudel.
ReplyDeleteBeer.
ReplyDeleteA big appetite, and artichoke dip.
ReplyDeleteI'm making lemon bars today. That and home made carmel corn. It tastes so good when it's made from scratch! I guess I'm dessert girl.
ReplyDeletei've gotten lazy since i started hanging out with Suzanne (her food is BEYOND great!) but prior to that I never showed up to a party without a big bag of Cheetos. Everybody loves them and besides, they are easier to travel with than a plate of bacon.
ReplyDeleteI recently discovered a recipe for a sun-dried tomato and pesto torta. It's a layered dip and it's sooooo good. I brought to my office holiday party and I have since been commissioned to make it 5 more times! Like I have time for that. It's become my new party treat, other than Tequilla of course!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, I LOVE mac n cheese. I usually would bring a shrimpy appetizer or some cookies. Or wine. I love all the holiday goodies!
ReplyDeleteHomemade cookies or some sort of easy-to-make candy, like chocolate haystacks.
ReplyDeleteAra, I just made haystacks for a cookie exchange last week! We had a huge ice storm and I was out of power for the day (I was lucky) so I had to make something cookie-ish without being able to light my oven. I thought I was being rather clever, frankly, and everyone loved the haystacks. Maybe I'll start taking those to every party. But invariably I will show up with a bottle of wine (from Trader Joe's) and some combination of cheese and crackers (also probably from Trader Joe's). You can't go wrong with ANY arrangement of cheese product with carb product.
ReplyDeleteOh, Shorty: recipe please. If it's online, a link will do nicely. :)
ReplyDeleteCrab spirals (This is a combination of crab, dill and cream cheese wrapped in a spinach tortilla and sliced into mouth sized bites.)
ReplyDeleteand/or
Feta stuffed tomatoes.
Either rugalah or the ole stand by - filet mignon shaved ever so thin on crostini with homemade red pepper mayo. I'm bringing both tomorrow just to be save. :-D YUM
ReplyDeleteSimply V. - where do I get me some'a those crab sprials???!?!?! MMMMMMMMM
ReplyDeleteYou didn't specify food, so I'm bringng Apples to Apples. Because you can't go wrong with a party game that involves golfball sized hail and charging rhinos. If I have to bring food, I'll do my spinach and artichoke dip.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year, Egg Nog from Stew Leonards!
ReplyDeletecookies, lots of homemade cookies
