Question of the Day #983

One of the benefits of living with a guy is enjoying his subscription to Men's Health. (When they write about women's wants and needs and how we think, they're actually right on. So much so that I wonder if any men actually read Men's Health. But that's a whole other post.)

According to Men's Health, in a 2009 study from Germany, researchers asked people how they felt about their age. Those who were happy with their age lived an average of two years longer than people were bothered by it.

Apparently, acceptance of aging, rather than denial of it, is related to healthy behaviors.

I feel, smarter, better and healthier every year. How do you feel about your age?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  4. I've always tried to ignore my physical age and act my emotional age. It's worked really well for me. Sometime in the next decade I hope to reach emotional puberty.

PS - Must get subscription to Men's Health...

PPS - This time without typos!

  5. Old.....I'm 40 shortly. Although I realize the best years are ahead. Time is flying by.

  6. I embrace getting older. My 20s felt incredibly turbulent. The clarity and self acceptance I found in my 30's makes me look forward to my 40s.

  7. I have actually thought about getting a tattoo with a tiny #50 in it. So far my 50's are better than my 40's. I care less about what other people think and pay more attention to what I think.

  8. I subscribe to the belief that my present age is always the best age to be at! I'm happy with where I'm at and don't think of myself as "getting older." I hope I'm continually getting better.

I dislike "benchmarking" myself against where I think I'm supposed to be at a certain age. F-it. Sometimes the Comparison Judge creeps in, but it feels much better to shed external expectations upon myself. Live each day joyfully and as a unique being! :)

  10. I'm pretty happy with my age! I'm only 20. I know - pretty young in comparison. But I still have lots of time to figure things out with my life :)

  13. I just had a birthday the end of June. One, I'm amazed I've come this far. I can think of several occasions that should have killed me. Two, when I was 21 I didn't give a minute of thought to what it would be like to be 40 years older. Three, getting old is not for sissies. Four, I have absolutely no interest in being 21 again. Five, I was extremely blessed to have grown up around a large number of older women, all of whom taught me (without teaching) how to age gracefully. Six, life is too short to be small, have fun, it's only a number. :)

  14. My age has never bothered me. I guess I've never really felt my age, for that matter.
