Question of the Day #717

Yesterday, I walked by a parked car with a dashboard covered in stuffed animals. First I thought, "What is wrong with that person?" But then I thought about a certain stuffed hippo I sleep with every night.

Which made me think, what is wrong with me? I'm 38 years old and I sleep with a stuffed hippo?

This sparked a lively conversation last night. I found out I'm not the only 30 something with a stuffy tucked under her pillow. Someone else, who shall remain nameless, still cuddles a security blanket. And another cherishes a childhood toy.

Okay, so now that my hippo is out of the closet, what about you? What are you holding onto?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. I have a whole range of stuffed animals. My most treasured is Ellie the Red Elephant. She has been with me wherever I gone since I was six months old. When I die, I want her cremated with me.

  2. I sleep with my Grrr Tiger, a fat bellied cartoon tiger who used to make a purring sound when you squeezed him. But he is over 20 yrs old now, and has laryngitis. I also have a small beanbag giraffe named Little Callee who has traveled the world with me. No lie, I have her in pictures from trips to Cancun, Paris, and on and on. (what's wrong with ME... LOL... hlding her helps my fear of flying so I just go with it)

  3. You couldn't be talking about me, could you? I am not afraid to admit I still love sleeping with my blanket. It's just the perfect sleeping accessory. I can sleep without it no problem, but when you have such a great sleep aid, why would you cast it aside?

  4. No, Mz. G. I was not referring to you. Believe it or not, you and your blankie are not alone!

Crazy coincidence, I'm watching Oprah and they just mentioned a poll Travelodge did that states 1 in 4 men travel with stuffed animals. I suddenly feel way more cool. ;)

  5. I have a little lamb someone gave me as an adult. And when I had to have surgery, Little Lamb went with me. I'll take whatever sweet comfort I can get in this crazy world.

  6. I still have my two baby blankets in a bin in my closet. I tried letting my kids use them, but they didn't take to them, so back to the bin the blankets went.

  7. Stuffed animals in cars is just wrong...unless you're traveling with small kids. I'm hanging on to all my old stuffed friends by giving them to my kids!

  8. I love you even more for admitting you sleep with your hippo. My husband gave me a stuffed monkey a few years ago. Whenever I am away, I take the monkey with me. Sometimes on my lap on the plane...

  9. I have a stuffed moose named Moosey. I got him when my husband and I were forced to live apart for a short time about 4 years ago.

I also have a bear named Special Ed (my mom's first attempt at making hand-sewn bears), a stuffed Kermit and a bear named Bertie that I got in London.

  10. The hippo is out of the closet -- I love it!!

I don't actually have anything I sleep with other than my husband, unless you count the piles of books from my nightstand that threaten to invade the bed at any moment!

  11. I still have my teddy bear and a little squeaky bear my dad gave me before he died in '66. I also have replicas of Mrs. Beasley and Chrissy, plus some childhood books.
