Question of the Day #709

Now that we've analyzed how much we text, tweet or update our status on Facebook, how do you unplug?

I unplug when I walk. I don't bring my phone. When I walk, electronic communication is the furthest thing from my mind.

H drives. She goes for long drives, blasts music and gets lost in the road.

My friend, B, goes for bike rides. For those couple hours every day, that usually super plugged-in guy completely goes dark.

How about you? How do you unplug?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. I seriously have to turn off my computer or else I will check email or fb when I walk by!
But yes, walking is a good way too.

  2. I read and take my dog for a walk even though I have my cell on me when I walk my dog. Definitely when I go surfing or body surfing.

  3. I'm not that much of slave to electronics. No tweeting no fb. I haven't been able to figure out how to use my Ipod (or whatever its called) so it's collecting dust. My cell phone is just for emergencies so it's hardly ever turned on. I do my work, I do my blogging, I visit around, then I shut everything off. But walking on the tredmill at the gym is one way, dull as that is (at least I have windows to look out of and the view is lovely.) Sitting on my back porch and watching/listening to the birds. And going for a drive with my hubby in our '57 Chevy is always a good way to make me smile.

  4. Like Kelly, I feel like I'm always plugged-in. However, I usually don't answer the phone or check e-mails when my daughter is awake. Time is so precious with her & I try to give her all of my attention when we're together. I also play tennis and for those couple of hours I'm completely un-plugged.

  5. I do the music thing. I might go for a drive or just crank it up in the house while I fold laundry or something.

  6. Unplug? I'm sorry, I do not understand the concept... :-)

  7. The TV is almost always off. The computer shuts down at 3:00 every day when the boys come home from school and I only go on it for an hour or so on the weekends.

  8. Hike with my kids, but I am going to re-live my trash band days in NYC on 10/23...

  9. To unplug I go hiking or fishing usually. Or I go on vacation which is usually to a place cell phones do not receive a signal. And I must admit it makes me very nervous do to this "unplug" thing you speak of...

  10. No electronics when I'm relaxing, for sure and my favorite form of relaxing is reading my latest book. I don't even want music on.

  11. The gym I go to is partially underground. No cell reception. Makes me love being there--it's a true escape!

  12. I don't walk around with my cell phone in my hand all the time. In fact, mine is usually turned off unless I'm out by myself. But when I'm out hiking or kayaking, I usually don't have anything. I do listen to my iPod when I'm exercising at home though. That's about the only time I get to these days.
