Question of the Day #556

One of the writers in my critique group was just accepted into a great Master's writing program. (Yay G!) Even though she's excited, she said, "I'm scared. What if I don't make any friends?"

Isn't it amazing how, whether we're 13 or 45, we have the same fears?

What kid-like fears do you find still pop up in your life?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. When I start a new job, I am always afraid I might not be smart enough but then it always works out :-). It never fails though I get nervous whenever I start a new job.

  2. That I'll be asked to "go first"...whether it's presenting something in a company meeting or being picked by my tennis coach to start a new drill, I always get really anxious. Then my life's motto kicks in - "Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference." Works every time. :)

  3. "Just whistle a happy tune and every single time the happiness in your tune convinces me that I'm not afraid". Name that tune (lyric!)
The fears probably still remain, how we handle them is the difference.

  4. I don't like being picked to "go first", as Beck said. There's just something nerve wracking abut that. I'd like to be further down, after watching whether the others mess up or not.
