Question of the Day #352

I just heard Hall and Oates' Private Eyes. Now, don't get me wrong. I love Hall and Oates. Rich Girl and She's Gone are two of my all time faves.

But when you listen to the lyrics of Private Eyes, things go straight to stalker city. "Private eyes are watching you, they see your every move..."

Can you say creepy?

Just thinking about the creep factor unleashed a rush of songs that give me the heebie jeebies. And why I'm begging for more heebie geebies is beyond me, but I have to ask, what songs hit you on the disturbing side?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. Most everything these days. I was just reading an article about the Night Stalker being linked to a death of a girl years ago. Remember him? I remember being terrified during his reign of terror. He was hitting up yellow houses and we lived in a yellow house. Private Eyes reminded me of that story.

Growing up, I loved Cher and thought she was the coolest thing. But now if I listen to her music, I start freaking out and want to smash things. Something about it just creeps me out.

  2. I'm creating a playlist for my daughter's 5th birthday party tomorrow (yes, we'll be rocken' some major Hannah Montana) and I'm including some Halloween music. I just heard Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell and it sent shivers up my spine. It's the same reaction I had when I was 12.

  3. I don't know what the average age of the readers here is, but does anyone remember the Six Million Dollar Man TV show from the seventies starring Lee Majors? He had an arch enemy named 'Maskatron' that gave me nightmares as a kid, because his face would come off and there would be nothing underneath it but blinking circuits.

And so the end of 'Mr. Roboto' gave me the serious creeps.

    "I'm Killroy!..... KILL! ROY!"

  4. When I was in high school the song and video for My Name is Norman Bates by Landscape would paralyze me with fear if I was alone after dark. I don't know if I ever heard the song on the radio by itself. Used to Love Her by Guns N' Roses is blatantly creepy.

  5. There is a song by the Toadies called Tyler that I think is about a stalker. It's so creepy, yet it is one of my favorite songs!

  6. " I can't get no.... satisfaction!"
No I'm kidding, but I don't understand most of the lyrics of today, so maybe this is not my question, but that has never stopped me before :)
There are messages that can be conveyed more powerfully just by their tone and rhythm than even by words. Could be really creepy to some but genius to others.
