Last night I curled up with my TiVo and watched this week's episode of True Blood. Set in a tiny town in Louisiana, a vampire and his mindreader girlfriend tried to save her BFF, as she was possessed by the devil, who had taken residence there in the form of a woman. But the task was rather difficult, because the devil had possessed all the residents in town, except for Sam, the shapeshifter who can transform himself from human being to animal in seconds.
And the devil is after him, in particular, because she wants to cut his heart out and sacrifice him.
I, of course, was completely riveted. But when the show was over and I shut off the TV, I did ask myself, "Why in the world don't these people leave that creepy little town?"
You gotta love suspension of disbelief. When it's done right, it's done right.
What crazy alter universe/world/setting are you totally willing to read about or watch even though its existence is completely ridiculous?

Suzanne
I still love Star Trek. Beam me up anywhere Scotty!
ReplyDeleteI just went to their web site for the fun of it and they were playing the episode where "a shape-shifting salt craving creature is terroizing the Enterprise". Ya gotta love it :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE True Blood. Love it, love it, love it!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't watched this week's episode, crazy busy. But will tonight! My hubby wanted to watch it last night but I was busy labeling school supplies til 11:30PM! I made him sharpen 48 pencils though!
All of this vampire stuff seems bizarre to me...but whatever makes people happy!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm into realistic stuff...like The Office. That's the one show I never miss.
The news. Truth is stranger than fiction.
ReplyDeleteLately, I've been a Lost junkie. I can't believe the final season doesn't start until January!
ReplyDeleteFamily Guy, The Office, and Big Bang Theory. None of those scenarios actually really happen, well at least not all together.
ReplyDeleteYou know me. Totally guilty of the vampire thing.
ReplyDeleteBuffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Alias. I "get" the vampire thing.
ReplyDeleteLOL at Simply V; I agree!
ReplyDeleteStar Trek. I am not a big fan but sometimes I am just amazed by the fact that they depict aliens as being like us with only minor differences. You know what I mean; They walk and talk and are about the same shape as us but they have big eyes or foreheads. Its crazy.
ReplyDeleteNo vampire stuff for me. I like rality!
ReplyDeleteStar Wars -- I'm a fanatic.
