Question of the Day #211

Every morning I drink a Diet Coke. It's been that way for years. It's my version of coffee, my morning bevvie of choice. Not Diet Pepsi, not Coke, always Diet Coke.

When I binge on potato chips, they're always Lays.

When I buy toilet paper, it's undoubtedly Charmin.

I started wearing Eternity perfume as a big haired Jersey girl back in highschool. And I've been an Ivory Girl since there were toy boats in my bathtub.

Are you loyal to certain brands? Or do you mix it up? Buy what's on sale? Purchase a product because you're drawn to its pretty pink container? How do you roll?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. OMG so it's not just me? I am SO brand loyal! I've been using Emporio Armani She perfume since I was 16. I only use Aqua Fresh toothpaste, never Crest or Colgate. I only use Listerine, never Scope. I only drink diet coke for breakfast, never diet pepsi. I only eat Boars Head brand cold cuts. I only buy Arnold brand bread. I only use Dove unscented deoderant. I only use Glide brand dental floss. Sparkle paper towels, Angel Soft toilet paper only. These are my brands, and I wait til they are on sale to buy them then I stock up!

  2. Great questions - You are hitting on THE nerve of business today. Yes while there is some brand loyalty in existence today - perfume etc, the trends (and it won't stop), is NON brand loyalty.
Companies are finding that & are having a hard time adapting to the fact that there IS NO loyalty anymore. Most are looking for cheaper, better, faster - competition is thick & comparable today, thus you have buyers jumping ship all the time. This is what is killing many o business, they don't understand "why".
There is no reason to understand why but only be aware that it exists & will never go away.
Example - cars, phones, - they all do the same damn thing, so why be loyal - it is the reason for the 2 year contract on the cellphone - they lock you in. Watch what happens to ATT when Verizon offers the iphone next year...see how many people jump off Att & go to Verizon - my guess, since they threaten to be cheaper, is millions.
To answer your question the loyalty is to oneself & not to a particular brand.

  3. Very interesting. I'm VERY loyal to Verizon Wireless and only buy LG phones - I will not buy a Samsung or Motorola. I buy Blackberries on AT&T and LGs on Verizon. Loyal.

  4. Yes, very interesting. I am very loyal to Channel #5, worn it for almost 50 years. and still love it. Have driven a Jeep only, for over 20 years. They are the best!!! But some of my brands have changed because we have been trying to be more earth friendly. Some now I READ stuff, I mean labels and that has changed my brands.
I still like Cascade, tried those more earthy crunchy labels and they don't seem to clean:(

  5. Lately for many products I've been buying things on sale due to the economy, but brands I am loyal to are Coke, Coors Light, Biolage shampoo/conditioner, and Pop Tarts!

  6. There are lots of things that I buy because they happen to be on sale that week. However, there are somethings that are simply non-negotiable. I am selectively, fiercely brand-loyal. Diet Pepsi is my drink of choice. When I shop for sour cream, it's always Knudsen. Butter at our house is Country Crock. Arm n Hammer laundry detergent. Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace lotion. I'm sure there are others. There are many other things, though, that I couldn't care less what brand I buy.

  7. I am a creature of habit. My kids are too. I brought home a different milk because it was half the price and they didn't want to drink it!

And I get really cranky if I have to wipe with anything other than Charmin. It's the best tp in my opinion :)

  8. I do buy certain brands every month now, but I don't think that you could call me loyal. I like to try out new products, if they have something attracting for me like a new fragrance or feature. Me and my husband also like to compare some reviews before buying certain items, like electronics.

  9. I'm only brand loyal if the brands prove themselves. Got to have Charmin for example, simply because it's the best quality, in my opinion, out there.

Got to have certain things like you said, Coke, Charmin, Lay's chips (although I'll try others on occasion), but always like to try new things too.

  10. Not really brand loyal. I choose certain brands because they are more earth and/or animal friendly. Avoiding the parabens which they're finding in breast cancer cells. Avoiding SLS because of the studies around that. So that leaves me with Tom's of Maine for things like toothpaste. It's not as sweet as those others out there and takes a little getting used to. Did you know they sweeten toothpaste? Bizarre.

We're more store loyal at this point and shop almost exclusively at Whole Foods.

  11. I'm a brand ho when it comes to most things. Actually, I'm trying to come up with an exception and can't, so I guess I'm a brand ho when it comes to ALL things. :)

  12. We roll with Angel Soft. Haha. Some things we buy brand names but other things we don't. I have a hard time passing up a sale item.

  13. It's gotta be Heinz. There are no other Keinz. ;)

  14. Scott one-ply TP. The only thing that works but doesn't clog up our cheap-@$$ low-flow toilets!

  16. I'm pretty brand loyal too. Used to drink Diet Coke, but have switched to Coke Zero now. I love Ivory too. One thing that sticks out in my mind are Viva paper towels. That's the only kind we buy because they are so much softer than the other brands. Fun post!
