Question of the Day #222

Yesterday, N and I went to meet his sister and fiance for breakfast. We drove to their house and then we all rode bikes to a beachside restaurant.

I hadn't ridden a bike since I was a teenager. I'm guessing 20 years. And you know what? It was just like riding a bike! Sure, I had wobbly moments, like when I almost hit a fire hydrant or when instead of using my brakes, I instinctively put my feet down to stop. But I didn't crash. Or fall. Or embarrass myself in any way.

It was really fun. And we rode past a marina and over canals and took in gorgeous water views.

What activity have you recently enjoyed after a long break?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. We have a boat and almost always just go fishing in it. Yesterday we got one of those pull behind rafts and each took turns riding it. It was a blast everyone loved it. It was just an all around fun time.

  2. Hee, it was like riding a bike!
Hmmmm, I am finally enjoying some nice weather. So went to my inlaws pool today, haven't done that in two years (it was closed last year). We had fun!

  3. Softball ... I used to play on multiple teams ... I lived and breathed softball in the spring and summer. Not so these days ... maybe sometime in the future ... but it was fun to play just a little!

  4. Actually I think I would really like riding a bike again. As long as it wasn't up hill!!! ;)

  5. I just recently started playing tennis again after not playing competitively for more than 20 years. It's so fun and so addictive!

  6. We took the kids down to the beach one late afternoon last week and flew kites. I don't think I've flown a kite in over 25 years. Yikes! I can't believe I can say that about anything!

  7. I'd like to get into bike riding again also, especially now that my boys are riding. My tires need to be replaced because they're pretty old, so I hope to do that soon.

I haven't actually started it yet, but on another blog I was just saying how I'd like to work on my latch-hook rug again. I haven't touched it in years and I finally have a place to hang it if I finish it.

  8. Strangely enough, it was riding a bike! I got on my bike after 10 years maybe? I have to admit I was SCARED but then it came back. I'm so glad to rediscover the joy of biking. Will definitely be doing a lot more this summer.

  9. No skills required, but I had the chance to be on a boat this weekend - for the first time in years. I forgot how much I love being out on the water.
For me, riding a bike is NOT like riding a bike! I need to practice - I can't make those tight turns like I did when I was a kid.

  10. I know my answer is a couple days late, but I finally have a good one...

Last night, Mike and I went roller skating at a local roller rink. Neither one of us had been since the childhood days of elementary school skating parties, but that didn't matter. We remembered how to keep our balance and whirl around the wooden rink like no time had passed. It was a blast!!

  11. Watching TV. I gave it up in favor of reading and the internet. There are only so many hours in the day and something had to go. Last weekend I got True Blood on DVD and watched all of season 1 in a couple of days. It was awesome (both the show and the act of watching TV.)
