When I was 12 years old, my father took me to an outdoor amphitheatre outside of Chicago to see Neil Diamond. It was my first concert.
The crowd danced to "Sweet Caroline," roared to "Coming to America," and sang along to "Song Sung Blue." Neil belted out "Forever in Blue Jeans" in a sparkly white Jazz Singer suit. And 25 years later, I can still picture the whole venue and hear that beautiful noise.
I loved it.
What was your first concert?

YES - 7th grade with Dave O'Dell, Ross Patten & Mr. O'Dell. Remember it like it was yesterday, only sadly, it was about 25 years ago.
ReplyDeleteBruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on the Born in the US tour. Yeah. The standard by which all concerts are compared.
ReplyDeleteMy first concert was Elvis, and I was shocked! shocked!!!
ReplyDeleteDuran Duran at the Worcester Centrum! I was head over heels for John Taylor. The day before the show, I went to the local thrift shop and got an oversized old man's suit coat and hat (ya know, the one with the feather). I was oh so stylin', rocking out with my dad. I also burnt myself with a lighter that night during "Save a Prayer." My dad let me use his lighter. Weird.
ReplyDeleteOh LD! I was at that Duran Duran concert too! My first concert was Def Leppard...and my most recent was Keith Urban - just got home from that one. Great show! There's nothing like live music - love it!
ReplyDeleteI was really young, and I think it was a country concert, Waylon Jennings or Bobby Bear or something.
ReplyDeleteAll I remember were the ladies lifting up their shirts.
Kind of made an impression.
Elvis Presley
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to take me to Las Vegas to see him perform at the International Hilton.
My mom, dad and sister and I were JUST discussing this at dinner tonight! (They were wondering when I'd let my oldest go to his first concert, he's like his mom, a rocker, but he's still too young for a concert I think).
ReplyDeleteI was 11 and saw REO Speedwagon and Survivor with my parents and sister.
Simon and Garfunkle, Forest Hills, NY. WOW! Long time ago but not forgotten! :)
ReplyDeleteI never have been attending concerts, but my sister has been to a lot of them.
