Question of the Day #215

I'm going to meet up with H and L.E.O. for lunch. They work for FOX Sports and are responsible for all the cool graphics you see during games, like players' pictures, stats, scores and the game time facts that "whoosh" across the screen.

They've got pretty cool jobs. And there are perks. Like when we tell guys we meet that H and L.E.O. work at Fox Sports, their eyes get all googly like we just told them they'd won a date with a supermodel.

They work on the FOX lot which has lots of sound stages, production offices and a New York street scene which you'd probably recognize from commercials. It's always fun to visit.

What cool jobs do your friends have?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. None of my friends have any cool jobs but my father used to work at the Daytona Speedway and he knew all the drivers. People were always asking him about one driver or another.

  3. My sister works at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, so she gets to see all the fabulous people of the LA movie industry traipsing in and out. I also have a good friend who installs super-high-end electronic gadgets in the homes of people who live in I'm-So-Rich-I-Don't-Have-To-Ask-How-Much-It-Costs sector of the Bay Area. He's not much of a name dropper, but he's been inside some pretty amazing homes with views we only wish we could see.

  4. I'm not sure I can beat the whoosh.

I do have a friend who is a professional ninja. Does that count?

  5. My brother-in-law is a professional schmoozer. His job is to woo union reps into either stay or become clients of the company he woks for. Nice to be able to play golf, eat at a lot of fancy restaurants, and sight-see for a living!

  8. One friend is a real estate appraiser for high end homes so she gets to appraise celebrities' "apartments" in NJ & NYC... I also have a friend in LA who is hired to entertain people when you have guests in town or business people - he just takes them out to restaurants and clubs... must be nice.

  9. Rick Scarry is a friend of mine. The actor, not the children's author. I met him back in the early 80s when he was a DJ for KMET. He's been in so many movies & TV shows that I couldn't even begin to list them all. I think he's in Italy right now -- what a life!

Back in 1981 when my boyfriend (now husband) went to Pepperdine University, he was also working in security on campus. He got to work during the old Battle of the Network Stars. He met all sorts of people doing that.
