Somehow, N's iPhone ended up in the cat's water dish. Completely submerged. Zapped. So after some searching online, he put the phone in a bag of rice in hopes that the rice would draw the water out of the phone and restore it. It had worked for a blogger, so why not?
And it worked for N too! After a 24 hour rice bath, the iPhone is up and running.
What crazy solution to a problem have you found online?

A fellow blogger told me about those little flaps on the end of the aluminum foil box that keeps the foil from popping out. I never knew they were there.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! I can't believe that worked! That's awesome! I look up how to get stains out of clothes on the internet and water marks on the wood table (mayo!).
ReplyDeleteMy Blackberry keyboard suddenly stopped working yesterday so I googled how to repair the Pearl 8100 keyboard and it worked... for about 20 minutes. :-(
ReplyDeleteOn the third day, it'll ``rice'' again!
ReplyDeleteI find all kinds of solutions on the net! even for problems I don't have.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I identified a new "visitor" to our garden. A milksnake or two or three! Haven't seen mommy yet. They aparently are harmless and eat VOLES!!! yeah!! because the voles have eaten all my bulbs!
Nature taking its own course :) very cool.
Wow, I'm amazed that it works! The only solution I have searched for on the Web was some natural remedials for my sinusitis, but they seemed not so crazy ;)
ReplyDeleteImpressive! I'm sure I'll need that one in the future.
ReplyDeleteWe've done the rice bath too--it didn't work on an ipod though:(
ReplyDeleteNo way! I'll have to remember that one!
ReplyDeleteMy last crazy internet solution is this very same one. I dropped my cell phone into the bath tub with my children. Funny, screaming didn't protect it but like you found, rice cured it.
