Question of the Day #813

Last night, I made Caesar salad for my client family. So I bought a tin of anchovies, put two in the dressing and ate the other eight while I cooked the rest of the meal. When I came home, I didn't feel like cooking another meal, but I was craving potatoes. So I made some hashbrowns.

I rarely feel like cooking a meal for myself after cooking for someone else. On most nights I eat popcorn or maybe some soup I've frozen or something strange like anchovies and hashbrowns for dinner.

What does dinner look like in your home?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. If we don't have plans with friends to go out, I make a full meal from scratch at home because I love cooking! We don't do take out or frozen stuff.

  2. Very Costcoesque, I'm afraid. The last few nights (since I went to Costco on Sunday), it's been a mix of shrimp cocktail, pizza, and ham-turkey-cheese croissant sandwiches. Also, mushroom soup and frozen cheeseburgers and burritos for after dinner meals (boys eat a lot!).

  6. I usually try to make quick but healthy meals on work nights (veggie stirfries, pasta, salads, broiled fish, etc.) On the weekend, when I have more time, I like to make good hearty dishes that require more prep work and also try new recipes (stews, roasts, breads, quiche)...and sometimes precook for the week to come. Then, the odd night we cater to our laziness and order a pizza. :)

  7. Rick and I are dieting, so we're being evil parents and making everyone fend for themselves.

  8. I cook full homemade meals about 4 times a week. On the off nights we eat leftovers, quick not-so-healthy meals (like chicken nuggets or fish sticks) or order out.

  9. Last night I made a great swiss chicken/stuffing recipe with stuffing, noodles, and green beans. But usually hubby is gone during the week, so I make kids stuff like fish sticks, soup, turkey burgers, mac and cheese.
My husband is the better cook and I'm excited about his chili for tomorrow night!

  10. Single and living alone, dinner is usually something simple like steamed veggies and a protein. Or constant grazing all evening, so I feel guilty that I'm mindless noshing but then can't justify cooking a whole meal after having "aten" (I like to say aten as the past participle of eat) so much already. So I end up feeling unsatisfied and my produce starts wilting in the fridge.
