A few minutes ago, in the middle of finalizing a menu for a client's dinner party on Saturday night, my email shut down and of course, ate the menu. Then Explorer took a full minute to open my blog. Last night, my roommate asked me to open a website and my computer just couldn't. Period.
My lovely laptop, on which I've written two novels, hundreds of training manuals and over 800 Questions of the Day, is old.
In what shape is the computer you're blogging on?
xoxo,
Suzanne
Mine was messing with me last night. Mine is only a few years old, but my keys look terrible. Because of my nails and the way I type, My S is completely gone and the other letters are half scraped off! Good thing I type by memorization!
ReplyDeleteNot too bad, but it's a few (maybe five?) years old. I always get my hubby's hand-me-downs, and I know he hasn't bought a new computer since at least 2008.
ReplyDeleteMine is FREAKISHLY old, but I am of the (possibly last) generation of people routinely brought up to:
ReplyDelete1) buy the best you can afford, and not before you actually CAN pay for it,
2) take good care of everything you own,
3) throw nothing away before it's time &, even then, donate or recycle if possible (NOT to be confused with hoarding), and
4) save your $$ so you can replace what you need to when you need to do so.
Mac & cheez anyone??
A few months old and I'm looking to buy another one. But I'm an IT person and total computer geek so you can't go by me. Oh and half the letters on my keys are already worn off too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteA nice Dell flat screen and small tower called a Wyse hooked up to our server. Clearly, I'm at work and not home.
ReplyDeleteNew. Love. Happy.
ReplyDeleteMy laptop at home is OLD, but I ordered a new one and it should arrive sometime next week! I'm super excited.
ReplyDeleteMy laptop is new, about 6 months old, and is running really well. The one I had before this one, I had for about 3 years and it still runs well - my mom has it.
ReplyDeleteConsidering computers are now like cars, and the minute you take them home they're outdated, mine is two years old and probably about to give me a heart attack. This is complicated by my antiquated dialup connection, but that is fodder for another question!
ReplyDeleteGet a Mac
ReplyDeleteWell ... considering that I just had to rewrite my post for the day ... after I'd completely finished it (and, I have to say, the second time around never sounds as good as the first!), I'd say it's not doing so well. (Plus, it took about an hour to get everything back up and running again). I feel your pain ... especially today! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy laptop is fairly new and great. It's one of the few things - like actual objects - that I L. O. V. E. - LOVE.
ReplyDeleteLean (3 lbs.) and new (8 mo. old). Works well on WiFi at home and intentionally did not have 3G hooked up to limit my commutes to wordprocessing for writing.
ReplyDeleteMine's in pretty good shape, but I have noticed it's a little slower than it used to be.
ReplyDeleteBetter now that one of my husband's techs cleaned it up and installed new antivirus!
