I'm always cold. Like it can be 72 degrees in the house and I'll put on a sweater and wrap myself in a blanket. Whereas my roommate will sit in shorts with a fan in front of him. Is it a man / woman thing? Do men burn hot while women shiver? The debate took place last night over pizza.
"I turn on my heating pad every night before I go to bed," said H.
M's jaw dropped.
T winced.
"My girlfriend can go to bed in full pajamas, socks and a hoodie and pile covers over herself and I'll be next to her, no covers, in my boxers sweating and saying, 'Oh my god, I'm so hot,'" said T.
"I made excuses to let the dog out when I was back east, just so I could stand outside in the freezing cold," said M.
"I made excuses to sit in front of the wood burning stove," I said. "But you know what's weird, my mom blows this whole theory. She's always hot. She kept running out of the room with the stove."
"Really?" H said.
"Clearly, we have a question for tomorrow." I said and texted myself: Do you run hot or cold?
xoxo,
Suzanne
I run cold. In the winter I always have a sweater or sweatshirt on. Sleep in a sweatshirt, double socks with two blankets and comforter. Hubby and 2/3 kids sleep in their unders and a thin quilt in the winter (well, hubs kicks off the comforter)!
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting with the space heater next to my desk chair turned on low. Without it, I'm miserable.
ReplyDeleteI run hot--my husband runs cold. Easy to fix--I just toss my blankets on to him!
ReplyDeleteI am always hot. Always. I don't get cold after skiing for 8 hours while everyone else is freezing cold after 2 hours. I am a furnace.
ReplyDeleteI'm with H. I turn my heated mattress pad (God, I love that thing!) on every night before I get into bed. My house always seems freezing to me...but, my almost-3 year old is always hot. So, in the wee hours of the morning when she climbs into my bed, I lovingly turn my mattress pad off and surrender to the cold while she kicks the covers off and complains about being hot.
ReplyDeleteMe, cold. Husband, hot. He's like a human heating pad. It works.
ReplyDeleteIm always cold and my wife hot. My kids hot. Nj is like 8 degrees right now. So def. Cold.
ReplyDeleteI noticed an odd thing. Body temp or my ability to be comfortable with it fluctuates. Some times I see the wall thermometer is at 64 and I don't need the heater, other times it's at 69 and I need to cuddle under a blanket.
ReplyDeleteCold. Even my hands and feet startle people with how cold they are if I bump into them.
ReplyDeleteI was always cold. Then I moved to Florida and for 2 glorious winters I was hot. Then the last two winters have been cold here. I love the heat here in the summer when everyone else is complaining.
ReplyDeleteThank God I kept some warm socks and a flannel nightgown or two.
A bit of both, but mostly hot.
ReplyDeleteI used to be the one running around the house in a tank top and shorts in the dead of winter, but now I have my trusty heating pad!
ReplyDeleteI used to always be hot. Now, I am more often cold. I understand it has to do with metabolism and body temperature. Those with a high metabolism have a higher body temp than those with a sluggish one. Over all, the thing that slows metabolism appears to be dieting, which lowers the basal body temperature, making us cold. It would seem normal then (according to this theory) that women (who are always dieting!) would run colder. I have heard there are other reasons as well, but that is the most recent theory I have heard.
ReplyDeleteI run hot which can be a bore because it's hard to take enough off without being indecent.
