One of my favorite parts about my old house was the mailbox right across the street. Sounds mundane, right? But it's not. Where I live now, I have to drive to at least a mile to mail off a bill or a birthday card. And I usually end up with a pile of outgoing mail on my passenger's seat (like today).
When I first moved in to my last place, I actually noted how convenient it was to have a mailbox a few feet away. Then, my friend, M, actually said, "The coolest thing about this place is that there's a mailbox right across the street!"
No, I didn't live in a totally uncool place, M and I are just weird and notice stuff like that. Anyway, what's the most convenient thing about where you live?

We're pretty close to the center of our community, which is nice. Even though my kids go to three different schools, none of those is more than a mile and a half away from our house.
ReplyDeleteGood question. I can't think of anything that is convenient :) hmmm?
ReplyDeleteOh! I can sled, ski or snowmobile right outside the kitchen door!
Two libraries within five minutes, grocery store in two minutes, and a small shopping center with a pet store, Staples, craft store, and discount retailer three minutes away. It's all about the shopping!
ReplyDeleteThere's an Irish pub across the street. :)
ReplyDeleteThe great outdoors is at our doorstep - no need to get away from the hustle and bustle.
ReplyDeleteWe're also not isolated and have a sense of neighbourhood, with a convenient village store/baker/meat shop, postal outlet, liquor/beer store, and two restaurants. The best farmer's market in the region is a short drive away.
Shopping center 5 mins away in a small town of about 15K is a nice thing....
ReplyDeleteMailbox -- next to front door!
ReplyDeleteMy landlord's house is on the property behind mine so if there's ever a problem, he takes care of it right away and my sister lives exactly one mile away. But, there are no sidewalks on my road so I can't walk anywhere which makes me a bit crazy. I hate driving somewhere just to take a walk.
ReplyDeleteI'm only a block from the ocean!!
ReplyDeleteMile from the ocean. Half mile from downtown with lots of good little shops and restaurants.
ReplyDeleteI want to move in with the Professional Bridesmaid.
NYC, the beach, and ski mountains all very close. oh and the awesome restaurants.
ReplyDeleteI like that I am an hour from two big cities in opposite directions, but still in an area with open areas and farmland. I also like that my grocery store is three minutes away, and the busstop for my kids is in the corner of the yard so I can watch from my window. Plus all the beautiful trees on our lot and neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteSince we live downtown, I love that everything is "just around the corner" and easily walkable.
