There are hunks of tree goo all over my car. Embarrassingly enough, I never wash it. Maybe two or three times a year. I know I should get it washed more often, but it's not like I have a driveway and a hose to suds it up with. I have to drive to a car wash, pay them $15, wait a half an hour and then tip the washers. It's kind of a luxury.
How often do you wash your car?

Suzanne
A lot now...once a week. Snow, rain, kids junk all over the place. My neat trunk has been replaced by a stroller, diaper bag and a mess...
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm about to write is not a joke...I'm waiting for my tax refund to wash a detail my car. Like you, I now consider car washing a luxury and like MattP, baby gear and snack remnants fill every nook & cranny of my car.
ReplyDeleteMostly, I take a hose to it every so often and always wash my windows at the gas station. My parking is on the street where palm trees drop icky, sticky stuff. My splurge is to go to a do-it-yourself car wash, which costs me $2-$3.
ReplyDeleteNot often enough, which is not good with the New England weather. Time to take Sophie to the car wash today.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh not nearly as much as I should. I do a lot in the spring when the pollen comes, and a lot in the winter because of all the salt & sand on the roads.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention though, I am getting my car washed today because I was up skiing in VT this weekend (right by your fam Suz!) and as a result my black SUV looks like a giant dirty white salt ball. $7 and you get to stay in the car, and no one to tip. Yay.
Not very often. I tend to wait for the rain to take care of the problem, and more often than not, it does.
ReplyDeleteUsually 2-3 times a year, typically in mid winter and early spring. I do it when the salt is so thick on the car, that it gets to a point where it can actually reach out and touch you. Otherwise it is useless to wash it, cause it's dirty again in 5 minutes. I have to wait for a warmish day though cause at these Jan-Feb -20C temps...your doors freeze shut if you wash your car. I try to do a good clean, inside and out, after the salt and sand has been cleared from the roads in April/May.
ReplyDeleteIs it a jacaranda you've been parking under? Those are the worst. Beautiful, but gross when it comes to what they do to cars. I probably splurge on car washes twice a year, then wash it myself another four times per year, averaging a wash every other month.
ReplyDeleteWe wash ours more now in MT than we did when we lived in CA. And we wash them more in the winter than the summer because of the snow, mud, and chemicals. But we have to take them to a carwash to do it because the driveway will turn to ice if we do it here. What's really odd is having to wash off the headlights so we can see or having to replace our windshield wipers every year. We never had to do that in CA ... LOL!
