I'm in a crappy mood.
There. I said it. Announced it to the whole wide world.
Crap, crap, crap.
So, I'm going to go for a walk. I'm going get my blood pumping and think positive thoughts while I look at the trees, the hills, and the animals. I'm gonna shake it off.
What do you do to shake off a crappy mood?
xoxo,
Suzanne
I have trouble snapping out of it. I try to read or watch a funny show to totally take my mind off my own thoughts.
ReplyDeleteMusic. The louder and more uptempo the better.
ReplyDeleteUsually playing with the kids, or turning on some music...
ReplyDeleteI feel crappy today too (but because of a cold) so instead of taking a walk, I'm going to take a nap!
I am pleased to report that the walk helped. I plotted (my novel -not a scheme) and envisioned many good things coming into my life.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to rock.
Sounds like the rest of you are too! : )
I drive away from the crappy mood. I get in the car with a big fountain Diet Coke, blast music and drive up the coast. I also drink and smoke away the crappy mood. Oh, but you know that Suz because you're usually by my side, helping me drink and smoke that frown upside down. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI dive into whatever great book I'm currently reading. Blow off everything else, telling myself I deserve a break. If that doesn't work right away, I dive into house cleaning as that's a total no-brainer and takes a lot of energy.
ReplyDeleteYou'll shake it off; it's obvious you're a very sharp lady.
I crash in front of the tv and eat cheese curls, a Caramello bar and Dr. Pepper. That either makes me feel better or totally sick. If I'm able to get out, because I have no car, I go to my favorite coffee house and drink mochas and sit on face book or if a friend is available chill out with them.
ReplyDeleteI like to chase the blues away with a brisk walk by myself. Getting in with nature is a great remedy :)
ReplyDeleteCook and drink wine!
ReplyDeleteI go for a run and crank my ipod to a high volume. Or, I go shopping - retail therapy always lifts my spirits!!
ReplyDeleteYesterday my day started that way, and I didn't want to let it spiral...
ReplyDeleteSometimes I go to the bookstore and browse, or wander into the music section and sample random CD's.
There are different kinds of crappy moods, so I have different strategies depending on the crap that needs shovelling.
ReplyDelete- Rants sometimes work
- Focussing on an alternate task, cleaning the house is an excellent alternate task
- Getting out into nature
- Withdrawal from society
- Chocolate (this strategy can be used in conjunction with any of the other strategies)
I walk and I blog!
ReplyDeleteGood question, Suzanne. We really need to get rid of crappy moods ASAP, because they get us aging faster ;p. Not that easy though... I do struggle, when it overcomes me. Lightly crap goes away with happy thoughts. Getting rid of moderate crap needs some distraction, like interacting with the kids, a good book, movie or music, and of course last but not least embracing the beauty of mother nature. I can't handle heavy crap alone, that's why I would contact someone close to me for sharing my emotions.
ReplyDeleteUsually I just put put with it. I try not to hang out with people because that just spreads it around. I'll do my own thing and eventually my mood changes.
ReplyDeleteWell, if it's a "wake up in the morning oh jeez no way I can write today.." bad mood, I go to Starbucks and find someone rewally strange to talk to and that helps.
ReplyDeleteIf it is just a "what the hell do I do with this character?" bad mood. I play chess until it goes away!
I have different methods to shake off a crappy mood. Drinking works for a short time but soon I realize that I let my mood cause me to drink to excess and I am in a worse mood than before I started drinking. Quiet time works the best for me. A nice quiet walk or a quiet swim at night under the stars with nothing on, wait did I say that? Ok I did and it does work. Try it.
ReplyDeleteI listen to my iPod -- super loud with my headphones on.
ReplyDeleteSulk like a teenager and write in my journal.
ReplyDeleteAfter I indulge it for a little while (okay sometimes a long while), I do what works and that depends on why I'm in a crappy mood. Doing small detailed things - like using an old printing press and putting in the letters one at a time - can be good to break my mood. But I don't own a printing press, so I will read, sleep, walk, exercise, watch TV, surf the internet... Whatever strikes me as being helpful. Yesterday was a lot of surfing.
