Question of the Day #779

Blogger buddy, Dawn, posted about a book she wanted to love but just quite didn't. And that made me think about no matter how much I try to love other genres, I'm a YA commercial fiction lover. I've definitely gotten immersed in adult fiction too, but overall, there's nothing I love more than a novel about real teens dealing with real issues.

I wish I loved Sci-Fi. I wish Fantasy was my fantsy genre. Of course there are exceptions to every rule, but overall, I definitely have a book "type."

What's your book "type"?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. I don't have one. I read a lot of classic literature, but I also enjoy fiction, non-fiction, humour, biographies, lifestyle, mystery, fantasy, etc. I enjoy seeing brilliant writers across every genre.

  2. I read across genres, but I do love books that have some magical element, whether it's fantasy or imagined futures or magical realism. Lately, I've been all about YA but also read many different types and authors within that.

  3. Picture books are my biggest love, even at my old age. I read a lot of nonfiction, though. Right now I'm re-reading a book on eschatology. It's pretty hard to grasp, which is why I'm reading it a second time around. I have to read it S-L-O-W, too. It's one of those "read each sentence twice" type of books. LOL!

I'm not really into anything fantasy or magical. I guess I'm odd because it seems that's what really is popular right now. I like things to be real. Well ... except when it comes to picture books, then I make an exception.

  4. I have pretty diversified tastes when it comes to books. I'll read about anything that has strong characters and an interesting premise. I am a little partial to YA though.

  5. I like any book with a good plot and interesting characters--and fascinating nonfiction makes my shelf, too. I'm a book slut.

  6. I don't really have a type. I love anything that's good/well-written. I do like to have something inspirational that I'm chewing on on the side to help keep my mind focussed on what's really important. But I also enjoy a good fiction piece!

  7. I really don't think I have a book "type". If it's a great, well written story, I think I'll like it.
