On my way to northern California, the woman next to me asked, "Is it scary?"
"Is what scary?" I asked.
"The propellers. The tiny plane." Her eyes bugged out as she clutched her purse to her chest.
"Oh, no. It's fine."
"Have you done this before?" She asked
"Plenty of times," I said.
She looked me up and down.
"Okay, here's how it goes. We take off, you get a glass of the free wine they're showcasing from wine country, you drink it and we land. You'll be fine."
"They give you free wine?" She perked up.
"Yep."
"Oh," she said. Then she dropped her purse, pushed it under the seat in front of her and leaned back in her seat.
How do you feel about flying on airplanes?
xoxo,
Suzanne
It's not the planes, it's the travel hassle that I don't like.
ReplyDeleteLove all planes, trains and automobiles.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Nancy. Flying isn't bad, it's everything that happens before you get on the plane that sucks. And even more so nowadays.
ReplyDeleteI fly constantly, for example, I just landed Saturday night, have a flight this Wednesday and back on Friday, then flight out the following Monday and back that Wednesday. I fly constantly and I'm still scared as heck of it, I think because I'm a control freak and totally not in control when flying. Whatevs, the free wine always helps! :-D
ReplyDeleteI do get a little nervous, but not too bad. Though I am much more nervous in the smaller propeller planes!
ReplyDeleteI like to fly but could do without the hassle as well. I've only flown once with my child so we'll see how it goes as she gets older.
ReplyDeleteSo S,...how do you feel about helicopers? :)
I'm have no prob with flying. With kids is a different story.
ReplyDeleteI had to fly soon after 9/11. The plane was almost empty and the few passengers onboard were nervous. After we took off all the nervous chatter began and the wine started to flow. I am usually NOT a chatty flyer but that day was different. We were somehow strangely connected and the camaraderie effortless. I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable flights I've ever experienced.
It always makes me nervous.
ReplyDeleteI get nervous. I didn't used to, but now I do.
ReplyDeleteI love it! My dad's a commercial pilot, so I got used to flying at an early age.
ReplyDeleteI like flying! The people watching, the anonymity, the freedom to drink at any hour of the day, just because you are flying or in an airport. I love the thrill of a new adventure and if you're flying, you're on your way.
ReplyDeleteI used to love it, but lately it seems like every time I go the seats are a little more packed in there. And the planes are always full now. So while I still like looking out the window - like, a lot! - it's not as fun as it used to be.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind it, but I don't like turbulence. I don't see myself flying anytime soon, though.
