Question of the Day #756

Driving to Las Vegas from LA takes about 4 1/2 hours. And when you're all psyched about getting there and the music's pumping and you're chatting with a buddy, it feels like you get there in five minutes.

Driving to LA from Vegas feels like you're going backwards.

That's exactly what H said when I told her we'd only gone 86 miles after what felt like three days.

What drive lags for you?

Suzanne

  1. Any drive. I feel like all drives in NJ take forever. Whatevs. If Vegas took 4 1/2 hours I'd be in heaven. Instead it takes a 5 1/2 hour flight, and that's after spending minimum 2 hours in Newark airport. So watch it SuziQ. :-D

  2. Driving in rain, the dark, or snow. I only like to take road trips during the day when the sun is out! :)

  3. The only drive that really lags for me is when I have to drive across country. The 40 is boring as all hell and the 80 was insane snow the one time I took that.

Then again, I used to drive to/from Vegas every weekend (I did it in 3.5 hours, btw). Before that I lived in Canoga Park and worked in Palmdale. After Vegas I lived in Van Nuys and worked in Costa Mesa. These days I live in Reseda and work in Culver City. I'm used to long drives and use the time to get in touch with myself or my music.

About the only time any drive sucks for me is when I'm dog ass tired and have to get home. After a 14 hour day at work when you just want to sleep... the worst.

  4. I used to love, love, love to drive anywhere, anytime but chronic back problems has ended that for me. These days, I have to stopover on an 8 hour trip, just to break it up. ~sigh!

  5. Home from my in-laws. SO LONG.

  6. From my house to our summer cabin - 10 hours doing the speed limit. I always just want to "get there."

  7. Any drive between L.A. and northern California on I-5. Sometimes we take the 99 just to mix things up, even though it's technically longer.

  8. Driving HOME from Las Vegas!

When I lived in Ojai, CA it took us exactly 6 hours to get to LV. Always felt like it was double on the way home.
