Question of the Day #402

Last night, when someone who shall remain nameless leaned in, close enough to rub her cheek against mine and through boozy breath said, "Doesn't this place look great?" that was nothing out of the ordinary.

That person is a serious Close Talker.

Then when I approached a table full of girls and asked, "Can I get you started with something to drink?" one of them looked up at me. Her lips moved but I couldn't hear a word.

"I can't hear you," I projected.

Again - moving lips, no words.

What is with the Soft Talkers and the Close Talkers? And what personality trait annoys you the most?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  2. Close talkers make me back up and back up again. I don't understand what they don't understand about personal space. I also don't like people who speak in conspiritorial tones.
I don't like it when I in the conversation and I especially don't like it when I'm not!
If you have something to say say it out loud.

  3. I'm not a fan of people who constantly interrupt. Like what they have to say is far more important than what you're saying. It's just mean.

  4. The "one-uppers." Why am I going to talk to you if all you do is half listen, until you can interrupt and one-up me & have a better story?? We're all equal on this planet, you're not better than me regardless of your ridiculous stories.

And I hate the people that have to say things extra loud to you, so that everyone in the near vicinity can hear too as if they care that you got wasted last night, or that some guy hit on you, or whatever stupid story you want everyone around you to hear even though you don't know them and they couldn't care less about your extra loud story.

Jeez that sounded really angry & mean. LOL I swear I'm not an angry person!

BTW Suzi, we won't be making it out to Cali this New Years. Our team isn't going to the Rose Bowl. :-(

  5. Loud, dominant, know-it-all, and close talkers. I've had the occasion to have met a few people who encompass all of these traits in one. Mon dieu!!

  7. My girls are soft talkers sometimes. Drives me nuts. I guess I used to be that way when I was younger, so they'll grow out of it. I really hate it when someone whispers something to someone else. That's so ... gradeschool.

  8. LOL - That's because us Mrs. P's share a certain 'je ne sais quoi'. :)
