Question of the Day #251

My friend B.C. wrote and shot a film. Part of it takes place at Mansfield, the "compound" where I used to live with a bunch of friends during my 20's and early 30's. So last night, a bunch of Mansfielders came over and we watched B.C.'s film.

It looked great. Good color, well lit, well shot. And the scenes and dialogue were reminiscent of the ridiculous debates we used to have poolside, mostly regarding the differences between men and women. The actors said things I'd heard out of B.C.'s mouth a zillion times.

It made me miss that place.

What past home or way of life do you sometimes miss?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. Every now and then I miss the frenzy and excitement of a huge flower event. Not the work! Just the planning and adrenaline rush.

  2. Sometimes, I miss being single. Just the fact that I could do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted and not feel guilty about it! Thank god my family understands my needs and lets me escape to LA for those selfish moments :-)

  3. Going to the Caymans made me realize how much I miss scuba diving. When I was single I used to take a trip or two every year, mostly to Club Med Turkoise. Love getting on the eight AM boat, taking a long ride out to the wall and doing a deep 100+ foot dive. What a high!

  4. Living in West Seattle ... exercising every night by walking or bike-riding along the water ... watching the ferries go by! Loved that!

  6. How fun to have great memories captured in a film! Hope it does well.

While I miss the carefree days of my twenties, I long for alone time--so hard to find!

  7. I miss the BC (before child) years -- being able to do what I want to do, when I want to do it.

I also miss our old neighbourhood - we had the best neighbours. The new neighbours are great, but it's just not the same vibe.

  8. Like many of you, I miss the days before settling down in suburbia with my husband and little ones. To be able to do what I wanted to do, whenever I wanted to do it seems more like a dream than an actual previous existence. It's funny but I find my mind wandering during my current crazy kid-filled days about a time in the near future where I will sorely miss today and all of the precious moments that pass by too quick. Days go by slow by year fly by.

Can't wait to see Big B's movie. Angelina better play me. ; )

  9. Really need to proofread before I post.

Days go by slow BUT the years fly by.

    The end.

  11. I miss pretty much everything about living in LA. Being near the beach, walking everywhere, the food (ohhh the food!), being able to eat dinner outside without bugs everywhere, no humidity, oh the list is long...

  12. Sometimes I miss our old townhouse where there was always someone around to chat with and where the deer toured the forest bordering our backyard. (I don't miss the tiny rooms.)

  13. I miss the friends I partied with in my 20s in Arizona. None of us had kids, some weren't even married yet. We spent so many great evenings and weekends together. I've never had another group of friends like them.

Now we're all married with kids, but whenever we meet up with them again, it's like we never left off. They are my favorite people and I miss them!

  14. Sometimes I miss my overgrown jungle of a back yard in Basking Ridge. There was a huge pine tree that had a hollowed out space near the trunk - private and shady, dappled with sunlight. I set out a couple of folding chairs and spent many hours over many, many years hanging out there with my first love, my best friends, my neighbors, smelling the pine and the lilac trees in the springtime.
