Question of the Day #250

N has a funny cat. When I talk to her, she meows back, like we're having an actual conversation. She also likes to stare me down. Hey, I'd probably be territorial too.

I'm allergic to cats. But she doesn't really bother me. Sure, my eyes get a little itchy and I wheeze here and there but it's nothing compared to other incidents with cats. So, I'm kinda digging the fact that I'm able to hang around a pet.

Which makes me wonder about all you bloggers. How do you feel about pets? Do you have them?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. I love my pets! Two cats and two dogs. They're a lot of responsibility, though. Not as much work as kids, but you can't just take off for the week (or even the weekend!) without making arrangements for their care.

  2. Oooh, this is a touchy subject so I hope I do not offend anyone by saying that I am not an animal person. I don't hate them or wish them harm I just don't want one.

  3. I've never really had a pet. Well, except for the goldfish, Tony Phony, Stella won at the italian fest over a year ago. Despite a suicide attempt, he's still alive. Oh and my bird, Chippy, I had when I was a kid. Chippy ate his own leg off and died. Hmm, I told my kids they can get a dog when my oldest is 10, but maybe with my track record that is not such a good idea.

  4. I love my critters! They can be a lot of work, but I think being around animals is one of the pleasures of life. We now have a dog, a bird, a tortoise and a fish.

  5. I LOVE pets. I have two bunnies, and they have their own bedroom and all that. I would love to have a dog but it will take too much of a toll on my social life so maybe in the future. I love animals - they are the only ones that truly love me unconditionally and can snap me out of a funk in a split second.

  6. I love animals! Pets are great, but I admit the deaths of my pet cats have taken a toll on me.

My last cat, Digit, had kidney failure and was not supposed to live for long. She ended up living for 6 more years on about 1/4 of her kidney function. When she started failing again we decided to have her put down in our own house - and it was one of the hardest things I've done in my life. I'm torn because I believe it is important for kids to experience having pets, and would like my daughter to have a pet, but am not sure that I really want to go through that again.

  7. Three cats - though one lives under our bed 90% of the time, so she's more like 1/2 a cat. The kid has a hamster, but I find that I enjoy it as much or more than she does. I can't imagine not having pets.

  8. Two cats -- Belle & Kitty. I love all animals and worked in a pet emergency clinic years ago. Loved working there.
