Last night at my writing group, the other writers discussed the latest Harry Potter film. People are updating about it on Facebook and reviewing it on their blogs. It seems to be quite the summer sensation.
I, of course, have never read a Harry Potter book or watched a Harry Potter movie. I know. A YA writer who knows not of H.P.? Blasphemous!
I've been called worse things.
So, I want to know about you, oh fabulous, dedicated bloggers. How do you feel about Harry Potter?
xoxo,
Suzanne
Couldn't care less.
ReplyDeleteNot my cup o' tea.
ReplyDeleteI have never read the series nor seen the movies. Pretty outrageous as an elementary school teacher, but I can't get past all of the crazy names. I find myself concentrating on the names' pronounciations and therefore I lose the story.
ReplyDeleteMy students all love Harry Potter!!
I love HP, but I'm not a fanatic. I'm personally not a fan of the Stephanie Meyer books. We all have individual genre tastes. YA or MG are not single genres.
ReplyDelete(By the way, I didn't have name problems although I had arguements with other family members when we first started reading HP about the pronunciation of Hermione. I actually was correct, but my knowledge was based on remembering an old time actress by the same first name.)
This is but another reminder that when we send out our MS to editors, know thier tastes in genre -- we're all different.
I read the 1st book and saw one of the movies (not sure which one). Cute but didn't make my socks roll up and down.
ReplyDeleteNever read the books or watched the movies either. My girls are really into them though. In fact, my daughter just got home from seeing it and said she liked it a lot. Just not my thing, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI can take it or leave it but the movies are what enticed both of my boys to start reading. They have both read all the HP books.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE Harry! The books are amazing. JK Rowling takes you to this awesome place of imagination. As an adult, I can appreciate her plot and character developments. Just really well written in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen the first movie, and I thought I wouldn't like it - but I did!
ReplyDeleteSo the books are on my list of things I'd like to read (eventually).
