Question of the Day #486

Last night, a bunch of us went to the Viper Room in Hollywood to see our friends, The Green Car Motel perform. It had been years since I'd been there or at any club on the Sunset Strip. At the time, Johnny Depp had been the owner.

So when I settled in next to E at the bar, I said, "This is where Johnny Depp and I made eye contact. My knees wobbled and I almost fell over. For a moment I thought we'd live happily ever after. But then he looked away. And it was over."

She giggled and pointed to the end of the bar.

"One time, I went to put an empty drink on the bar over there and this guy passing by shoved me, so I slammed into this other guy. I grabbed his shoulder, looked up and said, 'I'm sorry.' Then I realized it was Johnny Depp." She made googly eyes at me. "I was like ohhhh...it's you..."

We laughed, fully understanding the lovestruck/starstruck crazy thing that happens when you encounter a star like Johnny Depp.

Have you had any funny celebrity sitings?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. Ray Liota tapped me on the shoulder at the Chicago Airport and asked me for the time. I told him, then questioned why he couldn't afford to buy a watch. Time to make "Field of Dreams 2: Revenge of Shoeless Joe?"

  2. No but I got hooked on the belt buckle of a Hell's Angel at the Viper Room. Literally. Somehow got stuck as I walked by him.

No swooning just fear for my life.

  3. Wow! Johnny would be one of the ultimate celebrity sightings!
I was an extra in some Chicago based TV series so met Jeremy Piven, Paula Marshall and Kyle Chandler (coach on Friday night lights). So tha was fun. My favorites are rocker sightings though :)
I like your Jared Leto sightings at the grocery store! I'd be hanging by the produce section all day waiting for him!
How often do you have celebrity sightings?

  4. I tripped at a movie premiere on the way to the bathroom (during the movie) and fell face first in Deion Sanders' lap.

  5. I had tea in Roger Daltrey's kitchen -- twice. But the latest "sighting" I had was of Snoop Dog at the airport in SLC. He was flying Delta! He just stood in the middle of the terminal, surrounded by humungous thug-like body guards. Don't know why he just stood there -- maybe he was hoping someone would want to take his picture. A few did -- LOL!

  6. A friend was checking out a sexy bald man at Ralph's one day until he realized it was Patrick Stewart. Sad, but my funniest celeb sighting story belongs to someone else.

I see a few people at Hugo's from time to time. My niece was with me once and she freaked out over a rocker - don't know who he was. She wanted his picture, so I went up and asked if it was okay. She's a model. I'm sure that helped with it being okay.

I did see Gates McFadden driving once and thought - she is small. Jay Leno has some really snazzy cars and I saw him in traffic, too.

Drive by celebrity sightings. Yep, got tons of 'em.

  7. I got to shake Emeril's hand on Emeril Live. I met Chaz Palmintieri after his one-man-Broadway-show "A Bronx Tale." My husband met Pink at a casino in Vegas. Oh and last time I was in LA visiting Suzi, my husband & I met Richard Hamilton who plays for the Detroit Pistons at the bar/club at our hotel the Mondrian.

I know, it pales in comparison to Johnny. But it's the best I could do.

  8. Kelly! You saw Kyle Chandler? I think I'm in love with that guy! He plays the world's most perfect coach, husband and father. Do you watch that show? Funny because Friday night at The Viper Room, the guy who plays Landry on FNL walked by me. It's my all time favorite show so I had a bit of a freak out.

As for how often? Pretty often. LA's crazy.
