Question of the Day #1,122

The fridge is packed. I couldn't stick a soda can in there if I tried. The counters are covered with baking pans, onions, potatoes, butternut squash and everything else that doesn't require cooling.

I feel like an elf in Santa's Workshop. I'm making my list, checking it twice. In a few minutes, I'm heading out to the fourth grocery store in two days.

From this morning until Thursday at 4:00PM, I'll be cooking. And I'll be loving it.

I love Thanksgiving. It's my favorite holiday. As you know, bringing people together, especially over food, brings me joy. So to bring people together and feast while focusing on what we're thankful for is like the Superbowl of gatherings for me.

What is your favorite holiday? Why?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. That's a toughie. I've always loved Halloween and Christmas, but in recent years Easter has become a favorite. We do an annual Ukranian egg-dying party that brings dozens of family and friends together, making it very special.

  2. Sigh. I don't even feel like I need to answer this :-P HALLOWEEN! Because of all the ghosts and ghoulies and stuff. Christmas is a CLOSE second, though.

  3. Thanksgiving is my favorite too. Friends. Family. Gratitude.

  4. Thanksgiving, hands down. It is a true celebration of North America. I love giving thanks for the blessings in my life. I love the locally harvested foods and time spent with family and friends. We celebrate ours earlier in Canada, and the fall colours are outstanding during our holiday. It's also one of the few holidays that hasn't become overly commercial yet either.

  5. I love Thanksgiving because it's about my two favorite things: family and food.
Though Halloween might be my fave.
But don't get me wrong, I like Christmas and Easter too!

  6. In the past it was always Fourth of July. My sister has July 5th twins so there was always a big family cookout or clambake, the kids all spent the day in her pool, birthday party fun and games then the fireworks at night.

Now that the kids are all grown up and my son lives far away, it's whatever holiday we can be with him.

  7. I'm with you--it's a lovely thing to have a holiday without obligation.

  9. haha, Suz. There is something wonderful about bringing people together over food. I've been lucky to have some superstars at it in my life. I'm going to say my favorite holiday is "the holidays": Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. Fall is my favorite time of year, so as soon as the leaves start turning, "the holidays" are on in my mind and heart.
