Usually, on Easter, I make a pork roast or some kind of fancy roast with a million sides. Last year, H set a gorgeous table with linens and china for our feast.
Yesterday, a few friends came over and we ate burgers, mac and cheese, tator tots, brownies and ice cream.
Simple and good. We watched baseball, then the sunset, analyzed the world and laughed a lot.
When you celebrate, do you keep it simple or break out the china?

Holidays and things with family - keep it simple. Other celebrations such as promotions - break out the china and expensive wine/champagne. I'm probably the opposite of most people. Suz, your Easter sounds perfect and clearly much better than mine.
ReplyDeleteWe always go to a brunch at the inlaws country club who has the best buffet ever. The quality and variety is excellent, and I come home stuffed so I don't have to make dinner later!they always invite my sister and parents too so my kids spend the day with all of their grandparents and aunt!
ReplyDeleteI don't own china, so I think that says it all. Sometimes if the mood strikes me, I like to do a roast pork, or chicken, but increasingly, it's about keeping it simple. However, there is usually a decadent dessert when it's an important celebration. :)

ReplyDeleteFor Thanksgiving and Christmas I tend to break out the china. But this Easter we ate a simple meal on the stoneware.
ReplyDeleteUsually we eat a pretty wonderful, traditional dinner on holidays, but I remember one Christmas when it was just the two of us and we were going cross-country skiing, so we just had some hot dogs and thought that was fine.
ReplyDeleteI keep it simple. Usually we decorate with crafts the kids have made, so that sets the tone pretty well. I have nice china, but I'm thinking of selling it because I don't use it.
