Question of the Day #458

One of the things I enjoy about Facebook is that without it, I would forget that the rest of the continent is on ice. Some of today's friend status updates are, "Snowed in," "Heading out to shovel," and "Snow day! Time for a movie marathon ."

This of course, made me curious, so I went to www.weather.com and saw that on the U.S. map, only 10 states do not have severe weather advisories.

Wow. Who says Facebook isn't useful? I am now aware of the national weather.

What do you find useful about Facebook?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. One thing I'm liking is that I'm still feeling connected to my co-workers and their lives since I lost my job. I see them when I stop in at the library, but I feel like I still am keeping in touch.

  2. I've moved away from all of my friends and really don't have many (at least not the family of friends I had in CA) here in GA. FB is a little like my crystal ball into the life I left behind.

  3. Standing in the children's section at Barnes & Noble staring at "Treasury for Five Year Olds" and "Treasury for Six Year Olds" and desperately trying to remember which of these ages little Annika was turning. Bingo... Facebook pulled up, looks up mom's page, recent post reads... "My little baby turns 5 today!". Perfect. This was no more than an hour ago.

  4. I'm starved for adult interaction. FB helps...

  5. That I have reconnected with people that I had lost track of.
That I can easily update family with our goings on, since we live so far from our family.
That I can provide updates when I have the time to - it fits into my schedule.

  6. I don't watch awards shows, and now I can keep up-to-date on events such as the Grammy's based on people's FB statuses. Fabulous. Most of my news & weather comes from FB too. And it's the only way I can keep up with my friends' kids!

  7. I love how facebook makes me feel like I'm still part of my friends' lives, even though we're now geographically separate. It's such a great way to keep in touch!

  8. Well, who doesn't want to know their Barbie name or their Stripper name or what Muppet they would be. Sheesh!

Seriously, I've reconnected with so many old friends, even family through FB.

  9. Facebook is useful for seeing what's up with friends and family. I like seeing what people share. I'm perhaps not as "active" as others, but I like to check in. It's challenging to break the lurking ways...

    It's a nice diversion.
