Question of the Day #463

It's everywhere. Giant red hearts. Chocolates. Roses. Teddy bears with plushy hearts attached. In the supermarkets, at the mall, in the florists' windows.

Evidence backs up what some of my friends say about how Valentine's Day is too commericialized. But I love the idea of setting aside a day to shower loved ones with love. Call me a sucker or a hopeless romantic. But why wouldn't I want to do that?

How do you feel about Valentine's Day?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. I never even pay much attention to the whole party going on around me, really ...

  2. I think it's fun for the kids with their school Valentines. My hubby and I used to go out to dinner and that was fun. But now we just spend it with the kids!
I do think it's a nice holiday. Sweetest Day on the other hand is silly since there is already a Valentines Day! That one is definitely commercially made!

  3. Before having my daughter most holidays didn't really excite me but now it's like I'm experiencing them for the first time. I want to make each of them special & memorable. Since Valentine's Day is the day after her birthday I think it will always be extra special for me from now on.

  4. I think it's nice if you have someone special to share it with, otherwise it's inconsequential.

  5. I like it. And I'm glad you just reminded me to hide all the goodies I bought this morning before everyone gets home!

  6. For me, Valentine's Day is the day I catch up with the rest of the world financially. While everyone is out spending money on all that stuff, I'm home saving it all and feeling a little bit of equilibrium in my wallet...

    god I'm lonely.

  7. Nice...but played out too much. I have been married almost 9 years now...We have more fun at other times during the year...

  8. I like the kids' Valentine Day parties the best - with all the cute little cards and bite-size candies. Too bad that they are both outgrowing it.

  9. I don't need Valentines Day for an excuse to shower Jim with love every day of our lives (and be showered right back!)

  10. It's my wedding anniversary, but usually we don't do much to celebrate. Not a good night to try to find a table in a restaurant. Tonight, however, we're going to see an Elvis impersonator, so that should be fun. :)
