Question of the Day #161

Last night, H and I went to our favorite pub and amidst all the sports fans and beer drinkers, this tall woman, in a long dark overcoat, with her hair twisted in a tight not, strode through the bar, walked up to me and said, "Can I ask you a question?"

I shrugged and said, "Sure."

"Oh, I'm sorry." She looked at me again and said, "I thought you worked here."

"I practically do. What's the question?"

"How are the burgers and how much are they?"

"They're good and about eight bucks."

She eyed H.

"How good?"

"Good," H said. "Not the best burger on the planet but they're pretty good."

The tightly wound, mysterious woman said, "I don't eat meat, but I'm craving a burger. So I'm going to honor the craving."

"You should honor the craving. Good for you," H said.

Then she disappeared. Who knows which restaurant's burger actually honored her craving, but H and I really liked that idea of "honoring the craving." All too often, we spend crazy amounts of energy denying ourselves what we really want.

So, and I'm not necssarily talking about food, what craving have you honored lately?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. A long spa day complete with massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, and hair blowout. And it was worth every penny.

  3. Last night, it was a craving for hot wings on the bone. About a month ago, it was a craving for a road trip. LEO was in Vegas, so I hopped in the car and drove there. Less than 24 hours later, hopped in the car and drove back. It was great!

  4. I imagine that woman looking like Portia de Rossi. Was Portia at the pub eating burgers last night?

I'm about to honor a huge craving for some fun in the sun!
    Are you ready?!

  5. Good story! But OMG! I JUST said to hubby, I have GOT TO STOP eating the Easter candy. I seriously can feel my tummy expanding! So yes, I"ve honored my cravings way too much, and it is time to show some restraint.

  6. I abuse the privilege of honoring my food cravings. I craved fun reading last week and read two fiction books rather than school work. What can I say, I live on the edge.

  7. The craving to sit and relax for about the first time in 8 months. I spent much of the day Monday sitting in a comfy chair reading Bill Bryson and happily nodding off every now and then. :D

  8. I am craving some time in the Keys. Maybe sit in a chair with my feet in the water sipping on a cool rum punch.
