This question has been borrowed shamelessly from my high school friend, T:
What was the first album you ever bought with your own money?
Mine was a cassette of Men at Work:
Business as Usual. I played it on my little red Casio tape player and memorized every word.
What was the first album you ever bought?
xoxo,
Suzanne
PS - Thanks T!
First thing I bought with my own money was a TV. So you can see where my interest was not in music. I did have my mom's old 45's and used to listen to Patience and Prudence, Sonny James, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry.
ReplyDeleteREO Speedwagon - Hi Infidelity, a classic record from this heartland band. I still love all those early REO records with Gary Richrath, still one of my very favorite guitar players.
ReplyDeleteKiss "Alive II" - A double album that opened up with insane concert photos...check it..

This cracks me up because my husband and I were just having this discussion. He thinks he's cool because his first album was KISS, and I'm a nerd because my first album was Barbara Streisand. What can I say. I love to sing and her voice is the same range as mine. Yeah, I know, that still makes me a nerd, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteDear lord I'm old. I bought the first Partridge Family Album!
ReplyDeleteThe first CD I bought was a Smashmouth CD. Either that or 'N Sync. I'm not sure if my parents bought me the 'N Sync CD.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I can't even remember :-( It might have been Michael Jackson's Thriller, but I don't know if my Mom bought it for me...or if I actually worked for it. Damn. I'm getting old.
