Question of the Day #968

My friend M posted this Facebook status this morning:

"Wondering how much money you need to just disappear and start over. Just something that I think about from time to time."

How much money do you think it would take? And do you ever think about it?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. You don't need any money at all. I wish I had a nickel for all the people I know who've given it all up for a dream and a one-way ticket to LA, to NY, to Italy, etc and never looked back.

I think about disappearing and starting over every single day. I even have my husband believing in my plan these days! ;-)

  2. I started over in aug 2010 with very little in my pocket and moved to nj. Change is a positive thing...

  3. Kristin and Matt are right - big change can come cheap (plus you can always get a job wherever you're going). To be set for life, though? That's a tricky question. You'd have to invest, then live off the interest, since money's always a moving target. Like maybe if you had ten million banked/invested, it would work.

  4. I saved about 5000 dollars and moved from phoenix to portland oregon two years ago. I left my friends and family and never looked back. It was really hard at first and then I met some great people and found a great job and now i'm happier than i've ever been.....Todd H

  6. I just moved to Toronto after college ... hoping to find something here ... no luck yet though. It was one of those things I wanted to do. Thought things/life would be better here. We'll see :p.

But to start all over again. You need to have enough for rent, groceries, all the other important things in life. Maybe money for schooling. I guess you need to calculate it out for yourself as it will be different for everyone!

  7. I could do it for a dollar if I could keep proof of my education and my resume copy...
