"Look at her. She's gorgeous," TY said.
I twisted around and checked out the blonde with the perfect body behind me. I smiled awkwardly at the man next to me.
"Sorry," I said to the man. "It's all part of being a good wing girl."
"Oh, she's your wooden duck?" He asked TY.
TY and I laughed.
"Yep," TY said.
"I guess I am," I replied.
"I had a wooden duck for 20 years," the man said. "But just three weeks ago, everything flipped."
"Seriously?" I asked.
He showed us a picture of him with a pretty woman on his camera phone. His whole face smiled.
"So what happened?" I asked.
"I don't know. One night, things just flipped and the next day we didn't know what to do about it. So I said, 'let's go on a date.' We did and we had a great time and we've been crazy about each other ever since."
"Wow. After 20 years, huh?" TY asked.
"So does that mean one day things will just flip for us and we'll fall madly in love?" I asked TY.
"Maybe," he said just as I said, "No way."

No, even if they went on dates, or slept together it always went back to being buddies.

ReplyDeleteMe and Mr Sunshine! We were buddies for 2 years before we ever went on a date. We flirted a little, talked a lot then one day he showed up and asked me out on a real date and 3 months later, he proposed. It's been 37 years since that date, so we have been in each other's lives for 39 years.
ReplyDeleteI love cute stories like that Little Miss Sunshine! :) My boyfriend and I pretty much started out by dating ... we were never friends first. Hmm I can't really think of many people who did that actually. :p
ReplyDeleteThis is a question I've always wondered about. Because I've had some great buddies and in my mind I'm like, could this ever be something more? But for me it's always been a NO. I'm either feeling it or not and usually know from the get-go. But maybe one day I'll be surprised!
