Question of the Day #606

Yesterday, I attended a party on a roofdeck. The view of the Pacific was amazing. "The World Cup of Bags" (a game in which you toss a bag of beans through a hole in a wooden platform) was intense.

It was like a frat party. Flip Cup ruled another corner of the roofdeck. Girls danced in bikinis. And I swear I saw someone doing a beer bong.

Then my friend M said, "Do you ever feel like you're a little too old to be somewhere?"

"Like at this party?" I responded.

"Yep," she said.

She's 30. So if she felt old, I felt ancient. When was the last time you went somewhere that made you feel old?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. The beach recently, when sadly, I came to the realization that I'm not so fresh looking in a bathing suit any more.

Also, any time I'm at my daughter's elementary school. I'm like a walking giant senior in comparison to the kids. :)

  2. My sister's wedding a few weeks ago. The hairdresser did weird stuff with my hair and the make-up artist caked it on - and because it was my sister, I let it slide. But in a wedding party of young hotties, I felt old. REALLY old.

  3. Um, like every day! Yesterday: at the town pool in my tankini, and again at one of the bars last night. The day before that: at the town fireworks where I'm the only one without kids, and realizing I'm going to be an ancient parent if I ever have kids! The day before that: at a bar in the city where the bartender/waitress was seriously 12 years younger than me... need I go on?

  4. A wedding a few weeks ago. I am ancient, thinking the bride and groom should make the rounds and talk to their guests instead of insulating themselves with their bridesmaids and groomsmen getting tanked on tap beer.

  5. I have to go with last June when I tried to play hopscotch w/niece and wound up on my a** on the concrete wit a ripped Achilies.

Watching the dancing and drinking at sons' weddings is probably a close second.

  6. When I went to the playground last weekend with my kids, and seriously strained my quads in both legs while doing high tuck jumps over a log. I still can't run.

I told my neighbor, who's the same age as me, and she told me to act my age. I'm guessing she wasn't referring to the inner 17 yo who writes YA. ;)

  7. Every time I go to the mall.
