My draft has a beginning and a middle. Crazy conflict erupts. Drama oozes. Just when you think things can't get worse for my main character, they do.
Of course it's just a draft and I'll need to revise, but the story is strong.
All I need is an ending.
Wrapping up a story without wrapping it up too tightly or too happily is so hard. And it's totally making me anxious.
What challenging thing do you have to tackle this week?

Suzanne
STILL revising. I feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm back to revising my first MS. I got a request for the first fifty pages and now I'm in a mad scramble to get the rest up to par 'just in case'.
ReplyDeleteall the work that I avoided doing last week because I was out of the country on vacation! = )
ReplyDeleteGetting over a really bad cold... hoping to get back to work tomorrow which is causing me some anxiety. :-(
ReplyDeleteFor the ending, don't forget that the hero has to save herself. Also . . . I posted a brief blog yesterday about how to make your book a page turner that might be helpful. (www.nancy.lamb.com)
ReplyDeleteI'll post something on endings soon.
P.S. About revising? The reality is that it never ends.
My challenge is deciding on the perfect point of view. I think the fact that you have a strong middle is excellent!
ReplyDeleteCleaning up my classroom, finishing correcting projects, and creating good-bye gifts for my students. 4 days is not enough time!!!
ReplyDeleteFinding time to write while kids are home for the summer!
ReplyDeleteI have to design two creative programs for a client with high expectations. I'll be doing this while battling a cold. :(
ReplyDeleteGirl Scout accounting paperwork. It shouldn't be that difficult, except that we always have to close out before the year is really over meaning I have to remember things from last June to include on this year's report. Of course, I can never find the right statements to help me either.
ReplyDeleteI have to finish my yearbooks, organize all of last year's school work, and clean up the office and get it ready for my ILs to stay in.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course ... I'd rather just write.
