Question of the Day #13

Good morning! Okay, it's barely morning for me, which means it's definitely not morning for most of you. My apologies for my tardiness. And here's my lame excuse: I couldn't think of a good question.

Dumb stuff came to mind. Like, "What's your favorite color?" (Not kidding. That was before I drank my Diet Coke.) Then my brain starting swarming with all sorts of questions about men, but let's face it, they might be better answered on a different blog.

So just like I do whenever I have to figure something out, I headed up the hill. I waved to George as he tiled his house. I chatted with David about finding film work. I stopped at Felicia's and discussed the best way to keep critters out of her garden.

I love my neighborhood. I love the fact that I don't need to join a gym because these hills kick my butt better than any treadmill ever has. I love the banana trees, the giant hills, and the contrast of a Bavarian house with turrets next to a Mediterranean style home.

The smoke has cleared. (At least here. I send many prayers to the people who have lost their homes.) And I stopped to enjoy the view and realized that today's question was obvious:

What do you love about where you live?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. I adore my beloved city of San Francisco! I can ride my bike through the stunning and vast Golden Gate park, breathe in the eucalyptus, cruise into the Presidio past vistas of the gorgeous blue bay dotted with sail boats, descend a steep hill and arrive at Baker Beach which on warm days is full of people picnicking and swimming under the great red towers of the Golden Gate Bridge. On the way home I can get Vietnamese food in the Richmond, buy new music at the infamous Amoeba Records on Haight, drink a mojito at a groovy dive in the Mission and later that night, dance to live music around a bonfire at a costume street party in the Hunter's Point ghetto. Oh yeah, life is so good in SF!

  2. I love that Kaine and I just got back from spending a few hours on the beach. Everyone keeps complaining about how hot this November has been but I absolutely love it.

  3. I agree with TY & Lauren. I love the people around me. I love the hot weather and the beach. I love that I can walk to the Santa Monica Pier and ride a ferris wheel any weekend morning. I love that I can get off work and make it to Gladstone's to watch the sunset. I love that I no longer have creepy neighbors.

  7. My favorite color is green :0). Oh, the other question: I love fall in the midwest with the crisp, cool air and beautiful leaves. I also like summer with all the lakes in the area. Winter..not so much!

  8. We just moved to a new house and new neighbourhood, but so far I love everything! The balanced mix of forest and farmland, the complexities of the swamp, the Ottawa river and beaches, the quietness, the ever-changing Gatineau hills, the glorious changes of season, seeing stars at night, the wildlife, falling asleep to the sound of crickets. Then there is the neighbourhood full of friendly, helpful people. ...and lastly, the house; a house that we, along with our friends and family can completely enjoy.

  10. We have a park in our backyard with an honest-to-goodness merry-go-round in it. How's that for cool?

    Yeah, I'm easy to please.

  12. The fact that I can afford it. There are parking lots everywhere I go. I rarely have to channel my inner parallel parking ninja. I am able to live in a house. Oh and there's not much traffic. It's relatively quiet. And yet I'm still close enough to all the cool So Cal things mentioned above should I want to be a part of them.

  13. Can't believe I am at a loss for words! I guess I just don't know where to begin. Having a perch high in the Green Mountains of Vermont would take a book to describe. A window walled west exposure is awesome in the true sense of the word. Not a house in sight as we over look the National Green Forest. The colors and landscapes never seem to be the same. Light and shadows define and redefine the mountains' incredible shapes and nuances. They can be strong and singular and then soft and seductive. Crisp and clear and misty and mysterious. Oh my, how I ramble!! I guess I'm in love. : )
