Question of the Day #318

Regular blogger, Lisa D, has a dilemma. She is going to be a secret reader for her little one's kindergarten class and she doesn't know what to read. Her daughter's all time fave is Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, but with the movie coming out, she's worried that pick might seem predictable.

So we ask the perfect audience, which of your favorite picture books might make a good choice for this fab secret reader?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. I recommend "Carl's Afternoon in the Park" by Alexandra Day.(Farrar, Straus and Giroux/New York 1991)A baby has an adventure with the big dog, Carl while her parents have tea in the park -it looks like San Diego. The watercolors are gorgeous and children love the baby's adventure.

  3. I think she should still read the Cloudy book if it's her daughter's fave. Other kids may see the movie, but not necessarily read the book so it will be a good connection for them.

  5. I love Eric Carle's books. Sooooo much. Then there's always Amelia Bedelia books. I loved the book Whatever by WIlliam Bee but that might be more for older children to appreciate.

  9. I'm probably too late to chime in, but I love Nina Laden's books. THE NIGHT I FOLLOWED THE DOG might be fun for kindergartners.
