Question of the Day #828

Last week, one of my east coast girlfriends sent me this picture of her front yard. Since then, another storm has barreled through the region. School has been cancelled way beyond the preset snow days. And the snow keeps piling up.

How much snow is too much snow?

  1. For kids...probably not enough. For parents, more than an inch or two is probably too much!

  2. Any. It's in the 60s here and I'm dying. I may need to move to Hawaii.

  3. Yeah, we got hit too. 18+ inches. No school yesterday and today. It's actually been fun!

  4. Any amount is too much if you have to leave the house. It's pretty to look at when you're in a cozy chair, in a warm house, looking out the window while sipping hot chocolate.

  5. I'm thinking when you've lost your mind to the point where you think it is perfectly fashion acceptable to wear your snowpants to pre-school drop off....that's too much snow.

    Yes, yes, I did.

  6. Snow is a way of life here from October through to March so it would take an awful lot for me to say too much.

There was only one year that I was a bit frustrated with the amount, and that was because the snowbanks were so tall, that when shovelling I couldn't physically throw the snow up high enough to get it to the top of the banks. Even if some stuck, the bulk of it would slide back down. But even then, I'd still take the snow mountains over frigid (-40) temperatures ANY day.

  7. That was also the same year that we had so much snow, we no longer had fences between our yard and our neighbours' yards. The neighbourhood dogs loved running around in everyone's yard.

  8. Layer of snow + Layer of ice + Layer of snow + Layer of ice x 7 = too much snow

  9. The more the better - I want high streams & rivers in the spring - let it snow!

  10. After growing up in Oklahoma (high winds and below zero a couple of days ago), I don't believe in doing winter anymore.

  11. There is never too much! (I prefer white winters if it's going to be cold outside)
