What Is This?

My mother is an antique lover. She uses a pig scale for a coffee table. Need I say more?

The other day, she emailed me the picture above and said, "What do you think this is?" I am now passing the question on to you readers.

Ideas?

xoxo,
Suzanne

  1. That IS a puzzle.

Maybe it is a thing to dry beef jerky on? (I have no idea how beef jerky is made.)

Perhaps it is a bottle tree, an outdoor decorative item I have seen in photos on some blogs, but never in real life.

An incredibly large earring tree, maybe?

  3. It looks like something you'd use over a campfire to hang a kettle on...but made of wood wouldn't make any sense for that purpose...

  4. I feel like I've seen one somewhere before, but where? I'm picturing vikings drying fish or something like that.

  5. How tall is it? Could it be a hat or coat rack?

  6. No clue, but I'd turn boots upside down on it to dry.

I want a pig scale coffee table.

  7. As well as boots, you could use it as a drying rack for hats and mittens.

  8. I'm thinking a drying rack, too--either for meat or clothing--but mostly I want it to be a deranged music stand.
