I fell asleep during the Oscars. I haven't seen many of the movies in contention. So, was that the problem? The awkward vibe the hosts exuded didn't inspire me to keep my eyelids open either. Maybe it was the two huge plates of Gruyere and ham mac and cheese and two glasses of wine? Or maybe it was the trance-like state I fell into while Little J rubbed my head?
I'm not sure why, but this year's Academy Awards show was a big snoozefest for me.

I watched it in bits and pieces and still went to bed before they had announced the main winners. So I'm with you, it was a snooze. The other thing is, is that I'm tired of all the hype about who is wearing what and how they look. It's all so superficial.
ReplyDeleteI watched it because it's tradition - Chinese food, hubby and stepdaughter. Love that part. But yes, it was boring - the hosts were awkward together, and I hadn't seen most of the movies nominated. I caught up on the fashion stuff this morning ;-)

ReplyDeleteAnne was nervous. Franco was half asleep. Hardly any decent speeches.
Never watch the Oscars. Whatevs. I did tune in for a few minutes and although Anne is one of my fave actresses she was not a great host(ess). I have no idea why they didn't get a comedian to host it again.

ReplyDeleteAs always, I watched the first half hour, then they started in on the 3 or 4 hours of filler that they have every year 'til they get to the good stuff. Someone on FB argued that they aren't doing this for the public...they do all that for the industry. If the awards ARE all about the industry, why do they shoot for all those viewers? And why put the good awards in the last half hour if not to make the world force our eyelids open through the murky middle to get to the end? They know they're making people watch...so cut the crap. Nobody cares about best sound editing!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even watch it. I used to be obsessed. I'd see as many of the nominated movies that I could, enter pools, attend Oscar parties. These days, I just don't care anymore.
ReplyDeleteHadn't seen the movies, but usually watch because I like seeing the actors and the dresses. This year's Oscars were boring - no crazy clothes or nutty speeches - and the hosts were uninspiring, unfunny, and uninteresting.

ReplyDeleteI watched it, as usual, and although there was some ackwardness and some nerves, I think Anne Hathaway did a fabulous job.
